With the release of the Tricky Trials update; I decided to jump right in and experience the trial chambers first hand.
I have been anticipating this addition and have limited my exploring hoping to have a chamber close by.
Here’s my experience and initial thoughts on the trial chambers.
We don’t have that resource here
After levelling up this librarian to journey-person level followed by a brief moment of confusion. I went searching for the other splash potions of weakness I had left somewhere. I crafted a golden apple and headed to the techno-cave (link).

As you probably know, cartographers sell maps to locations and not librarians. This cartographer offers maps to an ocean monument, woodland mansion and a trial chamber. The inner workings of my super smelter provide a safe home for now.
X marks the spot
There was no x on the map the cartographer sold me. Not sure if this is a bug or intentional. I decided to do some spelunking within the area of the map. While I do use freecam to find things without much guilt; I wanted to find my first trial chamber without this exploit.

Instead it was journeymap that spoiled the location. The trial chamber I found was not within the map provided. I’ll have to do some research on this and do some freecam exploring to see if there was another trail chamber. Or is it intentional that it is difficult to find one of these structures using the map.

I initially dropped into one of the chambers where the breeze spawned. Not knowing what to expect I scurried to what I hopped was a safe corner. Like a true millennial took a selfie before fully guaranteeing my safety (setting my spawn).
Let the trails begin!
I really wasn’t sure what to expect from the trial chamber. I had listened to episodes of The Spawn Chunks podcast where trial chambers were discussed but hadn’t watched anyone play through one.
My armour is quite a mixed bag with some room for improvement on the enchantments. My diamond sword and bow are nearly maxed.
I found the difficulty to be quite manageable as an experienced player who isn’t particularly skilled in PvE combat with early game gear. I’ll find out a little later how the difficulty scales with the ominous effect.

I felt the breeze wasn’t much of a threat with a good sword. I’m trying to get some screen shots from the 3rd person; let me know what you think.

There was nothing super notable about the loot. I did get quite a bit of emeralds from the pots scattered about the chamber. And the pots themselves might be the best find. I will collect all the sherds and display the pots in later builds. I really enjoyed collecting and displaying the different pots previously.
I was able to get a trim template from one of the ominous vaults. I still have more to check so hopefully I can pull a heavy core.
I enjoyed getting a reward from the vaults and wish you could access them a second time. I do get why you can’t as it encourages you to go explore other chambers and avoid farming the vaults.
Cherry grove village
On my way back to the Island I found a village in a cherry grove. It was a blacksmith village as well! Nothing significant in the chest though. An interesting village that is close to spawn if anyone is interested in checking out or playing this seed (-3576869775629377160).

Parting Thoughts
I feel there are better chambers than the one I felt. The baby zombies are not fun game-play. They are difficult but manageable as a regular trial; and are very deadly as an ominous trial. Better gear would make it less of threat; but their speed and attack power makes me want to cheese them.
I’m left thinking about what I want to do with this chamber and I think the answer might be to find another one. The PvE experience was fun; minecraft needs something like this.
You could easily add some more redstone to create a dynamic experience. Walls and doors moving and opening; dispensers with equipment. but the spawners in this one just don’t motivate me to put that on the list.
At the rate I’m checking off projects (slowly) it would be a year before I get to doing anything with a chamber anyways.
So maybe doing nothing and exploring others as most players will is probably the best answer. When I get the itch to explore and challenge myself another trial chamber will be waiting.
