As I covered in this post; this was the first seed I loaded up. It was perfect for my goals in this let’s play and my ethos on Minecraft.
Why I chose this location
It was the right vibe. Deep slate, skull, lava waterfall, exposed geode, some cavern shelves.
An ancient city under this island would have been perfect; but finding any deep dark was a win. Deep dark gives you access to the skulk blocks, the biome specific music, and if I want to use wardens later on for any reason I can spawn one in very close to my spawn chunks.
Building this low down should increase spawn rates of any mob farm. The presence of deep dark helps with mob proofing the surrounding area.
Auto furnace array
The first test in restraint. I built this set up and immediately thought “I can do better”. Let’s knock it down, buid a giant chimney or whimsical building to encase it. The thoughts kept going. It’s going on the Internet, I need to showcase my talent.

Perfect is the enemy of done; and I forced myself to opt for done. The minecart loading system needs improvement in the future. Otherwise this thing works perfectly and was done inside the first 100 days.
I don’t need this to be anything other than what it is. A visually acceptable quality of life device that will accelerate my progression and save time preparing for projects.
As time passes I can fix the loading system to be fully automatic. Right now I need to press a button to cycle the Minecraft until it’s empty. At this stage I’m smelting a stack of items or less and this beats a single or quad array like I would have normally.
Skeleton xp farm
Bone meal, xp, bows and armour.
I’ve set up an enchanting station next to the drop shoot. This is not optimized for space but instead took advantage of existing caves before I had a good pickaxe.
As a Minecraft hoarder I’ve set up storage for the bows I’ll never turn into dispensers. I’m stock pilling crappy armour I’ll eventually waste levels on combining into usable stuff. The bones and arrows will be and already are a big benefit. Bone blocks are a great building material so collecting more than I need for farming other resources is not a waste either.

Fishing hole
This might be a failed project. At least I can get some fish to eat if I never get the treasure loot to work. Maybe you can’t in caverns but from reading the wiki this should work.
This pond didn’t exist, just a natural indent in the cavern floor that I dug deeper and added water to. In the future I’ll add some decoration.

Geode
This exposed geode next to the lava-fall surrounded by skulk is beautiful. Some type of boardwalk access to the geode and landscapping around the lava-fall later on will look great. There’s another 2 geodes close to the 1 exposed in this image. I could set up the others for farming and keep this one for aesthic purposes.

Warden spawner
Natural deep dark means I can set up a warden spawner in the future. I will cover a screecher in wool for now and may never use it again. If I do want to though, the option is there. It’s either in or immediately adjacent to spawn chunks so I could use it as a mob switch if I choose.
It requires a naturally generated skulk shreeker to spawn a warden in. Player placed shreikers will not do the job. I’m not sure if they work if generated by spreading skulk mechanic, but I’ve quranteen one for future use just in case.
Slime chunk
There’s a single chunk well placed around the parameter of the cavern that will become a simple slime farm. Not sure what method I’ll use but it won’t need to be huge as I’ll be around it quite often.
Spruce tree farming
2×2 spruce trees are a great source of wood for chests and other generic wooden items. Spruce is arguable the nicest or at least most flexible wood type as well. Usually I have something above ground and cut a spiral stair case up through the tree and remove it all on my way down.

The smallest cactus farm
Not much to be said about this.

Sugar Cane Farming
This pattern can be expanded if you want a massive flying machine farm. I’ve found this to be the most effecient use of space. I could be wrong, but it’s more than adequate.

In this case I’ve left the farm un automated. A harvest of the farm manually as needed gets me enough paper for anything I need at this time and probably indefinitely. If I automate this or build an automated farm later on it’s for the sake of doing it rather than actual need.
I spent a bunch of time working on this pattern to redeem myself on a bedrock server I was playing on with a friend and his friends. He had talked up my mindcraft skills. I was doing a lot of technical stuff based on tutorials or let’s play content but all on Java.
The first thing I did on the server was build a Java iron farm. It did not work. I decided an overly complicated sugar cane farm was my method of redemption. This pattern is an artifact of that embarrasment.
More to come
I’ll conitune to add to this over time. Some of those additions will be shared in a dedicated post. Some might be included with other posts, some might not be highlighted at all.
